A Partnership In and Out of the Cab for Some Team Truck Driving Jobs

Team-Truck-Driving-Jobs-2Team truck driving jobs are a good way to earn a living. The pay is excellent, you get to see even more of this great country of ours from the passenger’s seat, and there’s someone there to help you pass the time while you’re behind the wheel. Now, imagine the added benefit of driving with your husband, wife, or significant other. There’s no long-distance relationship to deal with, no missing special days like holidays, birthdays, or anniversaries, and no worrying how the other is doing when you’re not around to help out. It’s the best of all worlds. Mark and Margie Derby know how special these team truck driving jobs are. They’re a husband-and-wife team in the refrigerated division at Prime Inc.

Team-Truck-Driving-Jobs 1Mark and Margie both had careers in the financial services industry before starting their team truck driving jobs. Mark got concerned about his future after watching job after job leave to go overseas and decided it was time to find a job he could count on in the future. He has always been fascinated with trucks and thought to himself, “Nobody in India [can] deliver stuff to Walmart.”   After doing some research on the Internet about truck driver jobs and company-sponsored training programs, he discovered Prime and liked what he learned. He signed on with the company two years ago. Margie joined him in April of last year after seeing how well Mark was doing and having concerns of her own about her future as a banking agent.

Margie and Mark enjoy their team truck driving jobs so much that they decided to sell their house in Arlington, Texas, and live on the road full time. They really like the professionalism and openness of Prime’s management team and feel like they’re part of a big Prime family when they’re out on the road. Mark said, “I’ve worked for several large companies. I’ve rarely seen leadership this is open and [as] accessible as Prime’s.”  Margie adds, “The company cares about you and treats you with respect. I can go anywhere, and if I see a Prime driver… it’s like I’m seeing my family.”

Team truck driving jobs give husband-and-wife teams like the Derbys a chance to be together all the time while making money in a full-time career. They took on truck driver jobs because they were concerned about their futures in other professions and have found stability in the transportation industry driving for Prime, Inc.—even after being in the financial services industry for over 30 years. Mark summed it up by pointing out, “I’m sure there are many ‘boomers’ like Margie and I who thought they’d be able to retire and see the country in their RV. We’re doing the next best thing, seeing the country and getting paid for it.”
