What is Wreaths Across America?

One of the primary functions of this nonprofit organization is to expand the annual tradition of laying wreaths on headstones in Arlington National Cemetery, a practice that started in 1992 by a Maine businessman named Morrill Worcester. The mission of Wreaths Across America is to “Remember, Honor, Teach” by coordinating mass wreath-laying ceremonies on an appointed Saturday in December at Arlington and at veterans’ cemeteries across the 50 states and beyond.

Thousands of volunteers make achieving the goals of Wreaths Across America possible as they organize local events, raise funds and participate in the wreath-laying events. Wreaths Across America does not receive government funding. Instead, funding comes from wreath sponsors, corporate donors, and volunteer truck drivers.

How to Get Involved

Trucking companies and drivers donate their big rigs and time to deliver thousands of wreaths to cemeteries with the purpose of honoring fallen heroes who fought for our freedom.

This year, wreath-laying ceremonies will take place simultaneously across the country on Saturday, Dec. 15, at noon EST. Each ceremony will include the presentation of colors, the playing of taps, and a 21-gun salute. Wreath transport will begin Dec. 9.

Prime Inc. has contributed to Wreaths Across America for the past several years, including donations of trucks, drivers, time and thousands of dollars for the purchase of wreaths to be laid on gravestones in the National Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Mo.

Giving to Living Veterans

Not all military veterans pay the ultimate price in battle. Others come home looking for jobs to support themselves and their families. In fact, there are currently 22.7 million military veterans in our country, many of whom are out of work.

Prime offers driver training programs geared specifically toward retired veterans so they can obtain their CDL, receive driving training, and start their career with an industry-leading carrier.
