Prime Trucking: Thanksgiving on the Go

Prime Trucking independent contractors know how important it is to save hard-earned cash while living a life on the road. Many drivers already know they’ll be on the road Thanksgiving Day, but they might not know what where they can enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner. While top dollar can buy Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant along any given route, many truck drivers opt for cooking their own Thanksgiving meal on the go from inside their cab.

What’s on the Menu?

Many favorites can be cooked up and served right from inside the truck! Prime Trucking recommends the following:

  • Boneless turkey with light and dark meat
  • Stuffing (white bread, water, eggs, sage and turkey broth)
  • Sweet potatoes (plus butter, brown sugar and walnuts if desired)
  • Steamed broccoli
  • Canned cranberry sauce
  • Sparkling grape juice (non-alcoholic, of course)

What Supplies are Needed?

Prime Trucking’s menu can be prepared in any big rig with the following equipment:

  • Crock pot with a disposable liner (to cook the turkey)
  • Toaster oven (to cook the stuffing)
  • Hot pot with a fryer-steamer basket (to cook the sweet potatoes and broccoli)
  • Inverter (to power the appliances)
  • Can opener (for the cranberry sauce)
  • Bowls, plates, cooking utensils, and eating utensils

By purchasing ingredients from a grocery store and cooking the meal using the equipment listed above, this Prime Trucking Thanksgiving meal would cost much less than walking into a restaurant and trying to provide a Thanksgiving feast.

However, Prime Trucking is serving a Thanksgiving feast for lunch and dinner – free of charge to all truck drivers – at their terminals in Springfield, Mo.; Pittston, Pa.; and Salt Lake City terminals.
