Gold’s Gym and Skimble Join Peterbilt as Sponsors of Prime’s Fittest of the Fleet Competition

North America’s premier refrigerated, flatbed and tanker trucking company Prime, Inc. is looking forward to a very competitive 2015 Fittest of the Fleet event to be held at Prime’s headquarters in Springfield, MO on Saturday, September 5th. Seven carriers have already entered the annual fitness competition, including Cargo Transporters, Land Star, US Express and Halvor Lines. Two more sponsors have also signed on – Gold’s Gym and Skimble.

“Last year, Peterbilt of Springfield donated $500 prize money, and this year they have increased that amount to $1,000,” says Siphiwe Baleka, Prime’s Driver Health and Fitness Coach and creator of the event.

“We are extremely excited that Gold’s Gym and Skimble are sponsoring the event and becoming partners in our mission to improve the health of truck drivers. With the immensity of the health crisis among America’s truck drivers, we are going to need the help of just about everyone.”

In addition to prize money, the winner of this year’s competition will receive a one-year membership to participating Gold’s Gym centers across the nation that are accessible to trucks. On the days when the driver can’t get to Gold’s Gym, the driver can take advantage of the one-year PRO+ membership to the Workout Trainer app by Skimble, Inc. Workout Trainer is available for Android and iOS devices and gives drivers access to tens of thousands of workouts that they can do anywhere, anytime, including inside or right on the side of the truck.

According to Baleka, “Both companies recognize the challenges facing long-haul truck drivers and how important these drivers are to America’s economy. They want to make it a little bit easier for drivers to get the exercise the need.” Earlier this year, Gold’s Gym partnered with Rolling Strong to provide opportunities for truck drivers to utilize Gold’s Gym memberships while Skimble, Inc. will be launching the very first mobile training program specifically for truck drivers, which will be available later this year within the Workout Trainer app.

“We are very excited to partner with Prime Inc. to help drivers improve their health,” said Jennifer Ryan, Director of Corporate Sales & Wellness. “Our mission at Gold’s Gym is to help people achieve their potential through fitness – whether you are at home or on the road.”

Skimble co-founder Maria Ly stated, “At Skimble we are passionate about merging fitness and technology together to help everyone achieve their fitness goals, anytime and anywhere. We are excited to support the Fittest of the Fleet competition this year and offer fun, challenging, and accessible workouts designed for people with busy on-the-road lifestyles.”
