If you’re ready to become a professional truck driver, this is where you start! The Prime Training Program will help you earn your Class A Commercial Driver’s License. Learn everything you need to know to pass your CDL Exam and become a safe, successful truck driver through our program. Now is the time to move forward with an exciting career as a Prime truck driver!

YOU PAY

$0 to start

As long as you drive for Prime Inc. for 1 year with your CDL, you pay nothing for the training program. Prime covers your transportation to get to orientation as well as hotel accommodations and 3 meals per day during orientation. To start the Prime Training Program, you will need to obtain your class A permit in your home state prior to orientation.

HOW IT WORKS

PRIME’S TRAINING PROCESS

Our Prime Training Program takes you from your first day inside a truck to your first day as a full-time truck driver and beyond. You pay nothing to start and nothing for training at Prime Inc. as long as you drive for Prime for 1 year after obtaining your CDL.

ORIENTATION CDL INSTRUCTION CDL EXAM TNT TRAINING UPGRADE ELIGIBILITY

STEP 1: ORIENTATION

Attend orientation at Prime’s Orientation Facility in Springfield, MO; Pittston, PA; or Salt Lake City, UT. Prime provides bus transportation to orientation as well as 3 meals per day and hotel accommodations during orientation. Experience hands-on, computer-based, and simulator training.

Obtain the Class A Learner's permit in your home state prior to orientation.

STEP 2: CDL INSTRUCTION

Train with a CDL instructor with your permit for 2 to 4 weeks and experience a 1-to-1 student to instructor ratio.

Receive a $200 per week loan to spend on food and living costs during this phase of training.

Run real loads across the country with your instructor to develop the skills needed to pass the CDL exam.

STEP 3: CDL EXAM

Return to Springfield, MO; Pittston, PA; or Salt Lake City, UT to take the final state CDL exam, which includes vehicle inspection, backing skills, and road test. Once you pass the CDL exam and obtain your Class A CDL, you will be eligible to be hired as a company driver for Prime.

Earn a $250 bonus if you pass the CDL exam on your first attempt (aka "trifecta")!

STEP 4: TNT TRAINING

Obtain a minimum of 30,000 training miles with your TNT Trainer after you earn your Class A CDL.

Away from Home & Available for Dispatch:
Minimum pay of $900/week.

At Home & Available for Dispatch:
Minimum pay of $672/week.

*You must be available for dispatch to receive pay during this phase. Pay information above is based on 7 days of availability per week.

STEP 5: UPGRADE ELIGIBILITY

Once the minimum mileage goal is met, you will become eligible for review for upgrade.

Drivers will be selected for upgrade into their own truck based on factors including equipment availability, service, safety, and performance.

PAID TRAINING

Once you get your CDL, you’ll earn guarantee pay of $900 per week while completing 30,000 team miles with your trainer. Pay is based on availability.

ONE-ON-ONE TRAINING

Prime’s 1:1 trainee-to-instructor ratio means you get the attention you deserve while learning the skills needed to get your CDL and succeed as a Prime driver.

JOB OPPORTUNITY

Once you get your CDL, you will be eligible to be hired on as a company driver and earn money while completing your training miles.

FOOD & LODGING

No worries about what to eat or where to stay! Lodging and 3 meals per day are provided during orientation.
