Thomas Ozegovich didn’t necessarily need a job when he started driving for Prime, Inc. He was already working for another trucking company and was actually considering taking an office job with that company. However, a friend called and told him he needed to quit his current job and come to Prime immediately. It was a leap of faith, but Thomas decided to trust his friend’s advice. He turned in his truck at his current company and hasn’t looked back since. Even though he didn’t necessarily need a job with Prime, he has definitely found a career there, and has been very successful working for the company.
Thomas has been a professional truck driver for over 19 years. Prior to joining Prime, he worked in Hawaii driving for the postal system and, then, as a contractor in the construction industry traveling from site to site in the lower 48 states. He was tired of living in hotels and out of a suitcase so he decided to try driving for a freight transportation company. He was working for that freight transportation company and was feeling just barely satisfied when he received the phone call from his friend who convinced him to come to Prime.
According to Thomas, it was the people at Prime that made the biggest difference–like night and day, he said. His recruiter made the transition to Prime easy. He developed a great relationship with his fleet manager who helped him become profitable as a driver. “My fleet manager, Kelly Woodard, is the best. I talk to Kelly like she’s my best friend. The relationship we have is close to one of a sister and brother. I can tell her anything, and we’re both straightforward with each other,” brags Thomas. Kelly feels the same way towards Thomas and told us, “Thomas is a first class operator. He delivers on time, claim free, and with a smile! He will do anything we ask to help out with customer service. He is also a trainer who has trained many other drivers to be successful Prime operators as well. He is one of the best!”
So why does Thomas feel like he’s been successful working for Prime even though he didn’t need a new job when he started there? Well, for one thing, he’s made enough money over the past 5 years that he’s able to take a 2-month-long vacation and spend time at home with his family in Michigan. Even better, he’ll be enjoying that vacation while getting to admire a 45-foot boat on Lake Huron, a boat he was able to pay cash for as a result of the hard work he has put in driving for Prime. His luxurious boat houses 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, and 4 plasma televisions. He bought the boat not only for himself but also for his family to get to enjoy while he’s working hard out on the road.
Thomas never misses an opportunity to tell other truckers that need a job about the success he has had at Prime. The modern equipment, driving incentives and bonuses, and benefits offered by the company are definite selling points. He enjoys working for Prime, loves the people that work there, and loves driving a truck. As a driver completing long hauls from coast to coast, he greatly appreciates his home time.
