CDL Training | Train with the Best

CDL-trainingWhere is the best place for a student driver to complete CDL training to earn a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)? While driving schools provide prospective truck drivers like you with the skills needed to achieve a successful career, there’s no guarantee of employment upon graduation. Plus, you don’t want to settle for a second-rate position when you could get guaranteed employment at a premier carrier.

Prime inc., North America’s most successful refrigerated, flatbed, tanker and logistics company, can help you put aside all uncertainty with its Prime Student Driver Program. This program provides you with the CDL training you need to go from student driver to professional driver. Here’s what to expect:

  • Begin the program as soon as possible: Once your application is approved, you begin as quickly as your schedule allows. Expect to spend the first portion of your CDL training at the Prime inc. facility in Springfield, Mo. During this time, you can obtain a CDL Permit, but students are encouraged to get their permit prior to coming to Prime so that they are a step ahead in the process
  • Team drive with a trainer: The subsequent 3-4 weeks include driving 10,000 miles with a professional driver trainer, which count towards the 40,000 needed to become a company driver or independent contractor with Prime. During this step of the process, you are sent out with a trainer to get hands-on real world experience out on the road so you can learn fully about the job and industry. During this instruction phase, Prime loans you $200 per week to pay for food and incidentals. This money is gradually repaid by deducting $25 per week from your future paychecks.
  • Acquire a CDL: At the end of the 10,000 miles phase, you will be brought in to take your CDL  Exam. Once you pass your exam and have your license in hand, Prime hires you at 12 cents per mile for the remainder of the training process (30,000 miles), which lasts three to six months (guaranteed income of $600 per week). During this time, expect to be out on the road for four to six weeks at a time. (Once you become a solo company driver, expect to be out three to four weeks at a time with one day off for every week you’re out.)
  • Commit to Prime inc. = No training debt: The entire cost of your training (valued at$3,500) is forgiven by Prime after one year of driving for the company. The only cost to you for the Prime Student Driver Program is a one-time $100 administrative fee.
